  • Pavel Pepperstein
    A participant of the 53rd Venice Biennale (2009), the first Triennale of Contemporary Art "Bergen Assembly" (2013), and the 26th Sao Paulo Biennale (2004), Pepperstein is an independent artist, writer, critic and art theorist. From 1985 to 1987 Pavel studied at The Academy of Fine Arts in Prague. In 1987 he co-founded the experimental group of artists called Inspection Medical Hermeneutics.
  • Valeriya Rodnyanskaya
    Co-founder of the 'Kinotavr' Foundation working to support the development of Russian cinema and art. Producer of "Film in Detail", the television program on CTC channel.
  • Margarita Pushkina
    Founder and director of Cosmoscow - an International Contemporary Art Fair in Moscow, a colleсtor and fine art expert. In 2015 Margarita was listed amongst the 100 most influential people in Russian art according to The Art Newspaper Russia.
  • Antonio Geusa
    PhD in Media Arts from Royal Holloway, University of London, UK. Doctoral Degree in Foreign Languages and Literature from the University of Bari, Italy. Author of numerous book and catalogue essays and articles. Laureate of Innovation Prize 2010 in 'Art Theory & Criticism' nomination.
  • Ilya Tomashevich
    Director and film editor. Graduated from Film and TV School of the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague (FAMU) - editing department. Curator of editing department in Moscow School of New Cinema.


  • Alexey Artamonov
    Film critic, curator of film-programs. Author of articles for "Seans", "Kino Art", "Afisha", "Interview Russia", W-O-S, Look At Me, Colta.ru, "Cinephantom" newspaper. Worked as press-secretary for the State Museum of Film. Editor of "Seance" magazine. Winner of The Mikhail Levitin Prize at Russian Guild of Film Critics.
  • Denis Kataev
    Denis Kataev – young journalist, independent TV Channel "Dozhd" [Rain].

SCHICHT (SHIFT) is both a reckoning and a search for traces of the past. Layer by layer the film unfolds the portrait of the filmmaker's family - brought to life by records from private archives - and embarks on a dizzying trip through the shrinking industrial city of Salzgitter, Germany.

JURY STATEMENT: Schicht/Shift is awarded the prize for its multi-layered artistic statement, bold intake on autobiographical material and its application within a historical context.

BLINDER consists of 6386 photographs representing all the objects and characters featured in the English translation of José Saramagoʼs 1995 novel Ensaio sobre a Cegueira. In conceptual parallel with these images, the filmʼs soundtrack is comprised of 6386 audio samples extracted from Blindness, Fernando Meirellesʼs 2008 feature film based upon Saramagoʼs novel.

JURY STATEMENT: BLINDER is awarded for the cutting-edge approach to the narration and the form of the film.
